Wide Open Throttle has been performing their popular blend of top 40 rock covers and original tunes across Southwestern Ontario since 2001. Avid live music fans, the band members noticed a trend in the bar scene, the bands were either all covers from a particular decade, or original music no one cared about. Founding member Steve put together a set list comprised of the most requested top 40 hits from the late 70’s to the present (Steppenwolf, Twisted Sister, AC/DC, Guns N Roses, Metallica, Tragically Hip, Green Day, Nickleback). He later discovered a talented enthusiastic songwriter/ bass player named Bad Andy, and the original music complimentary to the set list began to flow. Realizing the need for a skilled guitarist, many were auditioned but only two fit the bill, Geoff and Corey were added to the band line up. A versatile drummer finished off the talent when Dave joined the band.
Wide Open Throttle released their first CD in the fall of 2004. It was an instant success, as the originals captured the hearts of fans forever. Playing sold out venues throughout Ontario this band developed a reputation as a fun loving party-rock group that would entertain any audience. They were showcased on the Instrument Lenders of Canada’s promotional CD entitled Encourage the Dream, and played the live venue of the CD release party.
2008 saw a number of changes in the band, first they signed with credible management, then a video shoot of the singles from their second CD set for release just in time for the summer and a new tour. “The Lucky One’ tour kicked off on February 16th 2008 in Stratford at Shenanigans Nightclub. Bringing in a new lighting and sound guru named Lee Weber ensures audiences of the best of rock and roll, with a stunning light show and perfect sound every night.
